Fave Online Makeup Tutorials

For makeup artists like myself, who entered the industry pre-Facebook, Instagram & Youtube (yes, there was such a time post dinosaur), the availability now of resources for women who want to learn different techniques and research product reviews is immense.

Now, new makeup artists have the blessing & difficulty of competing with hundreds of mua's on the market because of the ability to promote yourself and display your work online. As such, the cream of the makeup artists always rise to the top and I, for one, love the option of being able to park in front of Youtube for an hour or so and watch my favourite mua's create beautiful faces and help me not waste money on products that aren't effective by reviewing them for me.

So, without further ado, I've listed my top 5 favourite online tutorials for you, with a variety of styles to help you wade through the Youtube waters a little easier.

No. 1

Allana Davison - How to Look Good in Five Minutes

Allana is a beautiful, fresh young makeup artist and in this tutorial she does a very quick, light, everyday, rushing out the door makeup. The techniques are very simple and she virtually replicates what I do when I'm not going my usual full all out war-paint face. The products that she reviews are ones that I'm familiar with and I especially love her use of the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops and Primer together prior to her base. Divine.

Between you and me, though, if I had skin like Allana's, I'd probably go this look all the time and skip the foundation completely!

No. 2

Mathias Alan - Dramatic Eyes for Mature Women Over 40

As my I'm in my late forties, I know the changes that I've had to make to my own makeup application and although many women wear less makeup as they age, because I know the tricks and magic of illusion with makeup, I now take longer usually than I did even ten years ago and my eyes are always a strong feature, even when I wear a bold lip.

This tutorial is excellent for maturing women who aren't happy to just let age take over and stop putting in the effort with their makeup and Mathias' style is warm, gentle and caring.

No. 3

Andreea Ali - Everyday Foundation Routine

I love, love, love Andreea. She is mega talented, informed, witty and did I mention - gorgeous!

Her beautiful french accent is like silk to listen to and in this tutorial Andreea addresses something that soooo many women struggle with and that can make or break a beautiful makeup.

The two things that I spend the most time on when I do my makeup are my foundation and my mascara. Both of these well applied can make you use ten years younger and beautifully polished. Both of these applied badly can make you use like a dehydrated panda, or a mirror ball punctuated by two spiders.

No. 4

Glenmore Two - Best Makeup Tutorial 2017 (Jasmine Hand)

In many tutorials, a makeup artist will apply the eye makeup prior to the base which is definitely the easiest thing to do. You can easily remove the fall-out and cut the edges of the eyeshadow. But this artist perfects the base first and then applies the shadow, which is what I will do 9 times out of 10. In my opinion, this technique takes far more skill as you have far less room for error.

The products she uses are beautiful, available here in Australia and the finished look is deeeeeeeeevine!

No. 5 (Definitely saving the best for last)

Goar Avetisyan - Makeover on Huda Kattan

If there is a makeup god, her name is Goar Avetisyan. When God poured out talent on Goar, He completely emptied the bucket. Unbelievably, Goar is 24 years old. She already has her own makeup academy and is in my opinion, the most talented makeup artist on the face of the earth.

In this tutorial, she makes over another of my most favourite mua's, Huda Kattan. Goar uses high end products and has an intuition for bringing out the beauty in people that I've never seen before.

Being from Russia, Goar makes over many women that have been war victims and the transformations are nothing short of miraculous.

Enjoy Goar and if you are on Instagram, Facebook or a Youtube subscriber, be sure to follow her. She is a prodigy.

I hope I've given you a good range of tutorials to whet your appetite, but please let me know if there's a particular topic you'd like me to include in my blog and I'll make it my priority for next time.

Remember, you are beautiful already. Makeup is just the frame to the masterpiece.

Blessings & love,

Danielle xxx
